Slow steaming, i.e., the possibility to ship vessels at a significantly slower speed than their nominal one, has been widely studied and implemented improve sustainability of long-haul supply chains. However, create an efficient symbiosis with paradigm synchromodality, evolution slow steaming called smart is introduced. Smart about defining medium execution shipping movements real-time adjustment (acceleration deceleration) traveling speeds pursue entire logistic system’s overall efficiency sustainability. For instance, congestion in handling facilities (intermodal hubs, ports, rail stations) often caused by common wish arrive as soon possible. Therefore, would help avoid bottlenecks, allowing better synchronization decreasing waiting time ports or facilities. This work aims discuss strict relationships between synchromodality show potential impact moving from terms efficiency. Moreover, we will propose analysis considering pros, cons, opportunities, risks managing operations under this new policy.
